How do I become a Peer Leader or Master Trainer for the Healthy Living Program?
All Healthy Living leaders and Master Trainers must complete a 4.5 day training developed by Stanford University and also known as the Stanford Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP). Stanford will certifiy Master Trainers who are able to lead the Healthy Living courses and train peer leaders. All components of Stanford self-management programs are taught by pairs of leaders or trainers.

Peer Leaders must complete peer leader training and will receive a certificate of completion from the Master Trainers at the end of the training. Peer Leaders are preferably a volunteer who is self-managing a chronic condition and who will commit to co-facilitate the Healthy Livng workshop.

Master Trainers must complete the Stanford training and then co-facilitate two workshops to receive certification from Stanford University as a Master Trainer for CDSMP. To remain certified as a Master Trainer the trainer must co-lead two Healthy Living workshops and co-facilitate one leaders training every two years.

Participants must complete the full training to become a leader or trainer. For more information on becoming a trainer or become licensed to offer the Healthy Living program by your organization go to
